It seems like a recent video on MSDN's Channel 9 has folks doing their own palindrome implementations, being a good little lemming, I did my own. I've decided that I am going to use my implementation as the basis for a demo I'll probably do tomorrow on profiling applications.
Hopefully if I can push enough load through it I might be able to find something to optimise (thankfully I have a backup plan).
