Michael links to an article on BoingBoing about a nine year old girl who has gained a Microsoft ceritifcation. If we put the certification issue to one side for a moment it shows an underlying trend that I think we are all going to have to get comfortable with.

If your child choses to become interested in IT – they are going to be better at it at than you are, its as simple as that. Over the past twelve months I’ve been trying to get my 2yo daughter interested in various computer games like flight simulator.

I can’t say I’ve been terribly successful yet (although she can take off and land an amphibious plane with a bit of prompting). But I intend to make my job a trade that I can hand down to Bella – and that means her education starts early.

So while she might not have a lot of experience she will have the raw skills required for her to go far – if she wants to. More power to the 9yo I say!

P.S. We have dispatched the winged monkeys to pick her up and put her into the Readify brain washing program :P
